Fundraising for Swansea Bay Health Charities by completing the Long Course Weekend Wales
Huw Evans
My Story
Hi I'm Huw Evans and over the weekend of 21st/22nd/23rd of June I will be taking part in the Long Course Weekend Wales to raise funds for my local health board Swansea Bay University Health Board.
Set on the west coast of Wales in Pembrokeshire, the event attracts over 11,000 athletes, 35,000 supporters from 56 nations, to compete over three incredible days. Make the weekend your own by mixing and matching the distances that suit you across 3 events or go long in each to get the coveted 4th medal.
Friday kicks off the weekend with The Wales Swim, one of the largest open-water swimming events in the UK.
Saturday sees thousands of cyclists take on a choice of 112 mile, 72 mile or 40 mile courses set in the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Rounding up the weekend on Sunday is The Wales Marathon, The Wales Half Marathon, The Wales 10k and The Wales 5k all finishing with massive crowds back in Tenby.
In my first time competing in the long course weekend, I will be racing in all events over the full distances of 2.4 mile (3.8km) swim, 112 mile (180km) cycle & finish it off with a marathon distance 26.2 (42km) mile run. This will be done over the same course in Tenby West Wales, where later on in the year I will be competing in the Ironman Wales, completing events over one day.
I have chosen to fundraise for Swansea Bay Health Board Charity for this event, as I'd like to give back and help my local health service who I through my partner, see how tirelessly they work to provide excellent service for the people of Swansea and the surrounding areas.
Any donation, share, like etc that you can give I appreciate massively as it makes a huge difference to helping Swansea Bay provide services.
Thank you in advance.
